Remember those suspicious Google Barges? We do

google-barge

A couple of weeks ago, there were suspicious Google barges spotted in the San Francisco Bay. From then speculations flew. Were they floating data centers? Are they floating Google offices? Today, Google released a statement to put down the rumors. A Google spokeswoman stated:

Google Barge … A floating data center? A wild party boat? A barge housing the last remaining dinosaur? Sadly, none of the above. Although it’s still early days and things may change, we’re exploring using the barge as an interactive space where people can learn about new technology.

Well, there you go. They’re floating show rooms! Seems more of a publicity stunt by Google, kinda reminds me of the sky divers they used to show off Google Glass.

iPad Air: Cheap Chinese Ripoff or Apple’s Newest Tablet?

After having time to play with Apple’s newest tablet, I have to say it isn’t bad. It fixes most of my major complaints with the iPad 4. It’s thinner on the bezels and lighter. I found my iPad 4 was a bit too big for my liking, and not so portable. The iPad Mini also packs an A7 processor and a M7 coprocessor, the same ones found in the iPhone 5s. The camera is also improved, however, there is no 120FPS video recording like the iPhone 5s.

My one major complaint with the iPad Air is that there is no finger print sensor. And, this is really a personal thing. It just feels so slow and inconvenient to manually slide and enter a passcode, when i’m used to being able to unlock via fingerprint.

Apple’s next event is coming soon. This will most likely be an update to the ┬áiPads.

  • The iPad will most likely get a redesign similar to that of the iPad Mini.
  • The iPad Mini will most likely get a retina display.

Both iPads MIGHT get a fingerprint sensor.

OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) will probably be launched, since it entered Golden Master a couple weeks ago.

The Mac Pro that was teased at WWDC will most likely be released.

There may be new iPod updates.

As always PC Apple World will keep you posted with the latest news.

Nexus 5 Now Official Through Google Play Leak

n5 leakYesterday, Google’s Nexus 5 briefly appeared on the Google Play Store with a starting price of $349. Based on rumors and tech trend, this base model will likely feature 16 GB of memory, with the $399 model utilizing 32GB. It is still unclear whether or not Google will decide to provide the $399 model with a 3000 mAh battery as opposed to the 2300 mAh one that the base model will feature. Fortunately, the rest of Nexus 5’s specifications were leaked through a PDF repair manual. Nexus 5 will boast a Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 3GB RAM, an 8 MP camera, and a 5 inch 1080p touch screen. Its release date is nearly set in stone for the either 24th or 31st of October (Halloween) to complement Android 4.4’s Kitkat theme.
